Ok I need some help, I had 2 wild ducks land in our backyard. They had some orange and tan coloring. I dont know the breed and cant find pictures. Could someone help? My son found an egg near the fence and think it could be theirs and im thinking I may try and hatch it.

What general geographic area are you in? (If you are in the U.S. you may need to check into the migratory bird act information . . . that regulates things like possessing the birds - don't know if hatching the eggs is covered, but then you would have a duckling if it works out - don't know if there are temporary permits you could get, I think there may be educator provisions, but again, don't know).

Legally you can not disturb the egg, and you can not get a permit "after the fact". In Texas, probably black-bellied whistling ducks.

O h so I can't hatch it? I already removed the egg as my son found it and brought it to me, he's only 3 years old
