Hi friends,

we and the ducks had a experience yesterday in the afternoon: Since several weeks i am hearing quacks from the woods so i assumed that there are some wild ducks living around my second pond, which is hidden deeply in the woods. Yesterday a small flocks of those wild ducks came flying out of the woods, gliding downhill towards our home and flew quacking around the house and over the ducks as if to greet them. The Duckies were stunned and looked at those flying birds in disbelief. When the wild ducks flew off into the valley everybody started quacking, the Runners ran downhill trying to lift off - with some success, they all clearly identified those birds as their cousins and nieces.
A great experience! And i can hear the Mallards quacking again in the woods today…
Will those wild birds try to physically visit their relatives here? And should i let them do that?
It is wonderful and scary at the same time! As usual: I did not had my phone with me…

We have a pair of mallards that hang out by the pond in the back of our property. They just started coming in a couple weeks ago, and my dad spots them a lot on his walks through the field. I, too, am wondering if they will come up to visit my boys!

I haven’t heard any on the property yet this year, but Daphne went nuts when she heard them last spring. I’m pretty sure that she daydreams about having a passionate affair with a mallard drake. I’m pretty sure that the drakes would find her voluptuous Rouen body appealing as well!
