Wild muscovey ducks

None of these ducks are yours??!!
No they all just hang around. I moved here last summer and noticed a Momma muscovy with several brand new baby ducklings underneath her in one of the ponds on the property I live on, Eventually they made their way to the ponds in my backyard, WELL.... I fed them, they stayed, I watched them grow up, a few left shortly after learning to fly. Priscilla (the Momma duck) is the grandmother to 10 of the ducks in the photo (the bigger ones-they are about 3 months old [ and she is Momma to the 10 smaller ones [about 7 to 8 weeks old]. They obviously are very comfortable here, I LOVE LOVE LOVE THE fact that they report to me when hungry. I'm going to try and keep track of who's who. But I have a feeling those numbers are going to grow seeing how quickly they reproduce. DUCK MADNESS

Hello my name is Julie and I'm from Baton Rouge, Louisiana. For the last year I've had several wild muscovey ducks that hang around the property I live on. I noticed One of the adult females (also the mother to 10 2month old ducklings), limping around today which prompted me to take a closer look. Then noticed she looked alot bigger than normal, as well as her right wing appears to be out of place. I have no idea what could be wrong, whether it's a good idea to attempt to catch her and take her to the vet.

could be various things.....are there turtles in pond? are there cats/dogs around? Or she could have been roughed up by a male....these problems come and go …. I have noticed in my group...none has died from it but mine have a pond with a fence around it to keep predators away dogs, cats, turtles. but they need a bit of land as these are land ducks. But the males can really be rough on them and I can not keep out all the turtles they injure their feet at times and then depending on size of turtle can hurt wings getting away.

I've had 2 muscovy with broken wings from snappers. Snapping turtles can easily brake a wing.

I just moved into this place about a year ago, and I'm surrounded by several small ponds, And Yes I've seen several snapping turtles in them all. When I realized this, I did put fencing around the ponds in my backyard (but she chooses still to guide her ducklings to the larger pond up front). I've never had ducks before and I'm trying to educate myself in every aspect because I want to keep them safe if possible.
