Wild Turkeys(?) Free Ranging in the Backyard

I went out this morning to open the pop door on the chicken coop to let the girls out. This is what I saw. I think they are wild turkeys, but hoping someone could confirm it for me. Thanks.

I thought so. It was a hen with about 8 young just passing through my backyard. Never seen wild turkeys in my yard before, so it was a pleasant surprise this morning. Life is good....

Wild turkeys seem to be adapting to living in suburbia these days. We've lived in this house for 26 years, and never saw wild turkeys, until just about 3 years ago, when we had some randomly show up in our front yard, and now we see them about once a year around our neighborhood. We do see them frequently now, around the hillsides next to the freeway, and other semi openspace areas in the county. I have friends that regularly have them in their neighborhoods, as well.

Yep. Looks like a hen with her juvenile brood she hatched out in the Spring following her.
