Wild Wyandottes! What should I do?

Pics
Hmmm... yeah, those were the two I was deciding between, grabbing them at night, or herding them into a cage or something.
If you grab them at night I think they will be more traumatized. Chickens have poor eyesight in dusk/dark and they might think you are a predator. I agree that you should TRY to get them today with mealworms as a lure if you can. Also, a friend, and each of you holding the sticks and trying to nudge them to your house if you can...Good luck! Can't wait to hear what happens!

A couple days ago my neighbors called, explaining that there were chickens in their yard! I went over to investigate and found two pretty gold laced wyandottes (Atleast I think that's what they are!) Any ideas on what to do? Should I try to catch them? Leave them? Are they too old to lay...? The rest of the family doesn't really want to have anything to do with them, although if they would be giving eggs, maybe? I don't know what to do! all advice appreciated!
(I'll try to get a picture of them at some point)
First of all are they hens? If so ask around the neighborhood the chances are they’re someone free-rangers. If they aren’t I guess you can take them for yourself, make sure they’re layers! Golden laced Wyandotte’s are beautiful birds, your lucky to find adults for free!

(They're beautiful! See if they'll let u get close. If so, try a net or just catching them with your hands, if not, try a live trap maybe? See if you can get some of your family to come over and help catch them. If you can't convince them to keep the hens, u can always rehome them. If you can get enough ppl u could corner the hens and catch them both by hand. I'm used to catching chickens that way. Get two or more people and chase them into the other persons arms or towards a structure they can't get through to corner them urself.
Very pretty. I have one-she is the shyest of my flock. Wish you the best!

Wow! A lot of people replied to this thread! Yes, I already cought them a couple nights ago. We grabbed them both off of their perch and put them in a cardboard box! Yesterday night was the first night they actually went into their house by themselves. I don't think catching them at night is traumatizing at all compared to during the day! They are still half asleep when you take them, they just wake up in a new place!

The bigger one --Tiger, has a pretty bright comb and was in the coop quite a bit! I'm hoping that she was checking out the nesting box and will lay soon. We let them out to free range yesterday too, and Tiger was just anxious to get back in the run! They are currently being quarantined and seem healthy. Maybe I'll post some pictures later today!

We've been asking around but can't find their owners.
