I do hope you weren't evacuated... we have been talking about this too, though we are further from the carr fire. Unfortunately I don't have the resources to move all my animals, but the reality of this fire has brought up conversations in our house as to what we would do. Unfortunately we don't have a trailer yet either and would have to depend on friend of release the animals. It's a hard reality but a loose animal has a much better chance then a trapped animal.

I hope you are safe and your home and animals are not effected. It's been a very scary week.

I finished reading through the posts. Sorry to all that got evacuated. I'm in redbluff Ahmed may be able to help take on some animals if needed, we aren't fully fenced yet as we only move to this property last summer. But we will try to make things work if any of you need help

Red cross, United way, and tri county bank are all accepting monetary donations. I'm sorry I don't have any of the links.

But emotional support is a huge needed right now too

One of my mom's neighbors is giving me two small bags of children's Golden Books. She really wants to help and has asked they goto the shelters. I've heard the shelters aren't accepting children's donations anymore. But there's no doubt I'll be able to find them a wonderful home and quickly. I just need to get back to Redding.

And if there's time (it depends on when the evacuation is lifted), I'd like to go back with a U-haul trailer full of animal supplies. They need crates and litter. I'll call in the morning to confirm what they're needing. We keep seeing this request. The shelter that took in my three cats has hundreds of cats and dogs.

This would require rapid fire fundraising. I won't solicit here, and I'm not right now. But this is the plan if I have some time. I pulled a trailer up there when we moved to Redding five years ago. Two back to back trips with me doing all the driving. I can do it again.

I'll stand on a street corner, knock on doors on my parents' long road, and contact a Bay Area owned pets supply store. I sure want to get home to my chickens, but I want time to do this, too.

I had really good news tonight - the animal control people went out and fed/watered my birds! Of course they can't tell if anyone is missing, but they said there were no dead birds.
They will make them part of their route until evacuations are lifted.

Did they contact you and let you know they were doing this? I haven't heard from them since they were there. I'll ask tomorrow when I call about needed donations.

I ended up having to call them twice - they are inundated. Make sure they get the address correctly written down (she had written the wrong street) - that said, every dispatcher to whom I have spoken has been compassionate and kind. They are stretched beyond measure. If there were mistakes made the first time I called, I could throw no stones. I can only imagine the volume of stressed out, upset people that call; and I was determined to be kind, regardless of the situation. Within about an hour, I received the call they were at my house.

There were many die hard I am staying behind been through this before folks in Idyllwild who were posting on FB, they were out feeding animals and taking pictures. Very grateful for them for the information and support. Glad nobody was hurt in this fire.
