Not an entry - I just wanted to post this to show off how cool Eastern hognoses are. This is the same snake as the one posted above.

It showed up at the edge of our garage one day. It's not something I'd ever seen before.

This one bruised both its legs in a storm the first year we moved here and I found it being eaten alive by ants. I brushed off the ants and I kept it fed until it healed up. The legs were utterly useless, and I despaired of it ever being able to perch, but everything healed up normally and it now comes back every Spring.

Yeah…My sis in AZ has a lot of wildlife traffic going on lately. I’m guessing you’re further south?

Further north, actually. I'm originally from the south, and had kinda unknowingly been under the impression reptiles and amphibians couldn't possibly live in such a cold area. Boy, have I been proven wrong a thousand times over.

I'm told Arizona is gorgeous this time of year. I really miss the western climate.
