Wildlife Photography

Found this little gem on a fishing trip, I got a stick and moved him off the road. Definitely one of our most beautiful snakes.

Earlier this summer we had a lot of rabbits hanging around the house and the (mostly) corn fields nearby. They attracted several hawks that hung around. I walked onto the back porch one day and saw this Red Tailed Hawk swoop down and catch a vole, or field mouse, next to the foundation. I got my camera and took a couple pictures while it slurped it up, not caring that I was 30 feet away!

I planted dill for the Black Swallowtail Butterflies to lay their eggs on; sure enough, one came! Only one caterpillar out of about six survived; it was neat to watch him grow up!

We did not end up seeing it as a chrysalis; it crawled off somewhere else. Nevertheless, it was a great experience!
