Will a broody hen reclaim her place in the pecking order after she’s finished raising chicks?

About 8 weeks ago, we had a broody hen adopt a bunch of littles. She was at the top of the pecking order and my buff Orpington was at the bottom. I’ve noticed that for the past few weeks, she’s given them less and less attention, which according to everything I’ve read, is normal. Today I realized that recently and even more so today, the buff is more aggressive. Is it possible that the buff moves up higher and the broody hen loses her place at the top now that she’s re-Joining the flock?

Seems like you separated your broody and her chicks from the flock and will integrate them now, correct? It's very likely your broody will take her position back as top hen. However, the pecking order can change. I guess only time will tell.

They’ve been integrated basically the entire time but now her motherly instincts are finished and she’s rejoining the flock as an adult rather than protecting the chicks. Just curious if she’ll have to re-earn her place at the top or if the order is preserved.

She has probably already established a place in the pecking order,
that probably will not change as she weans the chicks.
I've found broodies enjoy their 'fierceness over others' even after weaning chicks, some seem to revel in it.
I wouldn't worry abut it too much, just be observant.
