My mom has been asking me to pop a ballon in front of a chicken to see if it lays a egg. Obviously this is not going to work. She then told me to ask people on the chicken loving website. So I am asking. Is this true? :hmm

Hmmm !:yuckyuck
If chickens are frightened, they wont lay an egg. Atleast, that's what I believe. Never tried frightening them to lay an egg! It would be hilarious if that was possible, though!

Rare, but chickens can have heart attacks when frightened, so I wouldn't advise trying to deliberately scare them.

Fireworks (like 4th of July) have resulted in soft shelled eggs from the roost bar a couple of times, so yes I suppose stress can cause them to push out an egg if one is already in the system.
