Wow super big ups and downs for you. Sounds like the little one should do well. Hopefully you won't have to deal with any more emergencies for at least two days.
Wow, he hatched okay! That's a fab story. I wouldn't have believed it from the state that egg was in. That's amazing.
And thank goodness that other one didn't freeze to death. You must have rescued it from the cold just in time...
You're having a lucky week. Go buy a lottery ticket!
that's one tough blood line! two little fighters.
very glad i found this thread, clever little darlings they are!
i had a 100% (6/6) clutch of silkie eggs hatch under a broody last week after being shipped across the country (australia, a big county!) they got heatwaved, flooded and one rolled out for however many hours before i found it and put it back. Chickens are no quitters, that's for sure!
Little "Popsicle" is doing great! I finally had to get up and put him out in the coop with his mama because he wouldnt stop peeping at the top of his lungs at 5 am. Cupid is great also, both act like nothing ever happened. I will bring em in for a photo shoot later on. I have them to thank for the bags around my eyes!
