I have two hens and one bantam rooster. Our neighbor just got chickens we suspect that two are cockerels and two are pullets. They love to come in our yard everyday. My family and I are concerned that once these cockerels mature they could steal our hens or kill our rooster. I just want to know if these concerns are founded and if so what I should do about them?

Welcome To BYC

Do you have a secured coop/run or fencing?

Possible the neighbor's rooster might woooo your hens. Possible your rooster might woooo the neighbor's hens.

Fencing is your friend; this will relieve a lot of concerns that you have.

If they have access to one another they'll fight upon sexual maturity until dominance is established. Usually that means 1-2 relatively minor fights. After the matter is settled the top rooster will breed all of the hens, with the beta rooster(s) getting any leftovers

Thank you for your replies! We do have a caged in coop. I just wanted to know all my options before I acted. Our chickens are free range so it made my worry.:)
