I have 3 cockerels, which 2 of them have finally become "roosters"... With this sexual maturation, they have also become aggressive. It first started with alpha, I guess cuz he matured faster. However now the middle ranking one is aggressive as well... Its gotten to the point where only my husband is brave enough to let the chickens out in the morning and check for eggs. My children are also afraid to be out when the roosters r out cuz the 2 newly matured ones waste no time in ganging up on them, myself included. Those 2 have already been selected to become dinner. Now here is my question, will the 3 rooster (who is not completely mature yet and has JUST begun crowing) become aggressive once he gets filled with testosterone? For reference, all 3 boys r the same age, brothers, and Belgian D'uccle, and are about 20wks old.

You just have to wait and see-- there's no predicting these things. Some people say genetics plays into it, and if so, then he does stand a greater chance of being aggressive since both of his brothers are/were aggressive. But that doesn't mean he will be aggressive. Many times I've raised brother cockerels where one or more were bad but one or more were good. So if it were me, I would give him the chance to prove himself one way or the other.

OK thanks! Will do... We r hoping he is good because we do want one... However, we will not be bullied either... So far he shows no sign of aggression, but then again he's not fully mature.... I was just wondering what r the chances he will be aggressive as well

He may or may not. Only time will tell that. The other two should be looking for a home. Especially where children are involved human aggressive roosters should not be tolerated.
Yes agreed. We can't bring it to ourselves to kill them, especially my husband because he is a vegetarian, but we are finding someone who can. They really shouldn't even b rehomed considering the fact that they r aggressive... They r getting worse and worse everyday.... Roosters like that should not be allowed to breed, therefore we r sending them to someone who doesn't mind making them soup

If they are hatchery bred birds, the three may not even be related, and hopefully # 3 is more mellow. I haven't had D'uccles in a very long time. Those I once had were mellow, but lately I am hearing of a lot of folks having problems with them.
I got them from a woman on Craigslist when they were only 8 wks old. She said they were brothers. She was giving them away for free. She said that she already had a rooster and couldn't keep them... I'm hoping that their father wasn't aggressive then it might b genetic. I don't know maybe she got them from a hatchery.... However she did say they were brothers

My first d'Uccle rooster was a total jerk, long ago. Since then I've only had one who was difficult, all the others have been fine.
See how your third cockerel behaves, and move him on immediately if he decides to act out too. There are many very nice d'Uccle cock birds out there, and maybe next spring you can raise some straight run chicks (not from this first person!) who will be worth keeping.

I hatch my own, and I have had 4 brothers, 3 silver splash and a larger black boy. The three silvers ganged up on the black bird ,,, I got there in time to save him (and see exactly what was going on), though he has a scar from it. The three became soup, the big black boy is now over the flock, he is a very well behaved Rooster!.
so it can go either way,,,,Good luck!
