Got five chicks, then about five days later I got my remaining three chicks. Store said they could go in the brooder together but the tiny ones got picked on so I separated them. I will be trying to merge together when they are around 4 & 3 weeks old respectively (according to what the store just told me). I was told to give them a treat block when I put them together to distract them. I have one of those big Hentastic logs, will I need to offer grit when I give them this? Any other tips? There is still a huge size difference between them right now

Putting together 3 & 4 week olds should be pretty easy. Sizewise they should match up fairly closely too. Keep an eye on them on initial introduction, but I don't anticipate any issues.

Yes they should have grit any time they're offered anything other than their feed, and onward.

thanks......I was bummed the initial merge didn't go well, so I hope the second time works. I'm waiting for the babies to get big enough that there isn't so much of a size difference. (right now they look like itty bitty chicks next to big old pigeons haha)
