Will Buff Orpingtons lay in the winter??

Our Buffs were hatched 05-01-09 started laying 09-11-09 and haven't stopped since. They deliver better than the Mail Lady!!
I have a 4'x4' east window, and added light from Halloween til March 1st.
Mornings they eat Egg Layer, treats in the evening/w Bird seed with only Red, White Millet & Sunflower seeds. a package of cooked & cooled Raman noodles ($.18) @ Wal Mart and they LOVE their couple slices of American Cheese, they will jump 4' off the ground for cheese & noodles!!!!

Wow, good to hear it. And it only took them 4 months to lay! Awesome.

One of my dear friends lives in Dillsburg!
I also live in PA. (Near Breezwood)
We have Buff Orps, who laid their first 15 eggs, today!
I am hoping they continue to lay through winter. We chose this breed because they seem to be known for continued cold-weather egg production. Some suggest putting false light in the coop to keep up production...others say that causes their egg-laying-life-span to decrease a lot. So, we are "learning as we go" and waiting to see what happens! Wishing you all the best with your Buffs! Don't you love them? We love ours!

Mine actually started laying this winter but to be fair London is winter 9 months out of 12.

I have 4 Buff Orps and I am getting one egg every day to every other day right now. I live in Colorado and am trying to figure out how old the girls are. At least two years old. Someone at the feed store told me that they might be getting too old to lay anymore! I am trying to hold out hope though! It has been months see we had a decent egg supply.
