Will cornish X broilers lay eggs??

I have raised the white cornish cross broilers last year and this year and I heard if you raise the hens long enough they will every now and again lay an egg and are usually double yokers. But I think it would be real cool to have a broiler lay if you had one please post a picture or tell about it thanks

yes I have a corish cross meat chicken that lays a egg every other day she is about 23weeks old and a sweet girl I let her free range all the time to eat bugs and stuff she can find . I will send you a pic of some eggs she has layed for me and a pic of her hit me up if you like to know more ty

Do you restrict her food? Are you breeding her?

The first time few times I raised meat birds, I just ordered 25 at a time, let them free range with my layers, & when we wanted chicken (or forgot to thaw something else for dinner), ex-hubby would go out, kill a bird or two, & they'd be in the pan 20 min later. Because they were obnoxious (& bigger), the roos all went first. We didn't limit feed and, unlike a lot of people, didn't have much issue with them free-ranging as opposed to camping on the feeder & gorging. We ended up with a number of CornishX & other meat-type hens that just integrated into the main laying flock. I never noticed that many double-yolks (though I guess more than from my regular layers since I've never gotten a double from any of them lol) but they were better layers than I would have expected. Don't know what they're longevity as layers would have been...only one of them made it past the 6-8 month mark (she had a stellar personality) since they were intended for dinner not breakfast.

no I feed them one ct of laying crumble a day and I let them free range out to get bugs and stuff they find on the ground no I have not breed her yet but I do have two roo that are xcross and man they r big lol if you like a pic of the birds let me know I love to show you ty and have fun with your birds

probably won't have much luck this time of year spring is best, our cornish x hens that integrated and are fre ranging have only had what our layers have had and are pretty active , the BR Rooster seems to have picked one of them as his favorite even though she hasn't laid an egg as of yet. We got ours in April so hopefully soon we will know.

They do like their weekly bath as it seems the others pick on them less.

They are quite comical now, our 2 hens are 4 months old and the one will try to get the bucket for a soak, after we gave her 1 for 2 days straight when she was having pain in the pad of the foot as wasn't a break or anything we could see other than she wasn't wanting to get around much. Happy to report she is back with the flock and doing great. used warm water and epsom salt
