Will drakes fight for their hens?

I read that drakes will run for cover like any other hen, and won't protect their flock. However, some say that they're great at protecting their hens like a good rooster? I know that geese are good at caring for their mates, though. Will drakes do the same and keep his girls safe?

Every drake that I have ever had was far more interested in saving his own skin.

Ducks do not mate for life, only a season.......Drakes will only protect the Hens from other Drakes.....Not like a Rooster that would die for his Hens........
Sometimes Drakes get a bit aggressive towards Dogs or People during breeding season......
