Will eggs hatch after being in the fridge?

I read an article here while back that said that if you needed to store hatching eggs for more than 14 days you would get better hatch rates if you stored them from day one in the fridge. It said fridge storage cut hatch rates for eggs stored less than 14 days but raised hatch rates for eggs stored for longer than 14 days.

Yes some will hatch if store improper, but to get high hatch rate.Store in cool area and turn.

I'm going to give it a try. My last blue egg layer died of unknown causes - she had a limber neck so she may have eaten something nasty that killed her. I had 5 in the frig and one sitting on the dresser to try. We'll see if any hatch or not. If not .....it is what it is.

Go for it! YOu have nothing to lose! And a cute fuzz ball to gain. There is another thread that uses gocery store eggs to hatch , like the fertilized eggs from Trader Joes and the like. So give it a try. My boys pulled one from the fridge and want to use it--so in it will go.

I've hatched better than 200 chickens and turkeys this year and three quarters of them were from refrigerated eggs. Not store-bought, but produced by my birds. I typically get better than 90% hatch rate on the chickens and 85% on the turkeys. Age of eggs ranged from one day to as much as ten. I try not to go more than ten days if I can help it because that's when fertility begins to drop off. Not steeply, but enough to notice. I have hatched turkey eggs that were three weeks old and still got better than 50% to hatch. All were washed before refrigeration then sanitized before putting them into the incubator.

I got a incubator and my hens are not laying like thay did in the summer and so my Q is can I hach eggs that have been in the fridger for....I say weeks? thx
