Oh alright thanks and is there any chance my just 6 week old males breed with my 5 week old females or is that impossible they try but I dont think theres a chanceIt depends on what type of quail you have. Coturnix quail lay pretty much anywhere and are very unlikely to go broody.
What are signs of stress when I open the cage the 5 week old females usually dont run away from me while the other walk away is that stress?Six week old boys can be awfully full of hormones, so yes, there's a chance! The five week olds may be too young, though, so watch for injuries or stress.
I have some 6 week old ones as those are line the 5 week old ones aren't raised by me so they are new to my coopQuails don't mature until they're around 6-8 weeks old. I would give it a little longer for the females.
I was thinking of stress caused by the boys, such as feather loss, especially around the head or running around their enclosure a lot. They could also get injured by overly amorous boys, so keep en eye open for that too. If they were older and laying, then lack of eggs is another sign of stress. What are signs of stress when I open the cage the 5 week old females usually dont run away from me while the other walk away is that stress?

That sounds like something is disturbing them in the early morning. It could be any number of things. Rats, 'possums, raccoons, hawks, skunk, coyote. I live in a pretty urban environment and I've seen everything in that list except for coyote in my yard. They are always running and flying in their cage in the morning I always find it a mess and when I look put the window they are either sleeping or running all of them but I dont know why they have a good diet seeds veggies and their chick crumb the weather is now quite warm and the enclosed is massive for them they even have a sandbox in there what I'm I doing wrong
