Will hawks get ducks?

Sorry about your duck. We had a hawk get my fave muscovy, Brownie a few weeks ago. It was strange went out side that morning and noticed I had no chickens in the pen. Went to check and all where in the coop and under it. That is when I noticed in the duck pen, Brownie, stuck in the fence picked clean. It took an hour for the chickens to come out of hiding. Chickens seem much more in tune with hawk attacks. My Rooster is always on it warning when something is in the sky. I wish ducks where more leery of the skies.

Please keep your kids and dog safe until you get this figured out and taken care of!!! Sorry it isn't directly related to the original post, but it sounds like this may not be a hawk problem. It was just my first thought when reading through this thread. But then again, my kids are just about small enough to be drug off by a hawk...and certainly by a coyote or mountain lion

Sorry about your losses. It could be most any predator. If you have a game camera, put it up because most likely it's been lurking out of sight just waiting for an opportunity and then you will know what you're dealing with. A coyote.
