Will her beak grow back????

She's quit running to me when I'm outside, so I guess maybe she was asking me for help

I've been handfeeding her anything I have that I think she might like. She's back to being standoffish like she was before, but she will come up to me when she knows I have food for her.

I only wanted to trim her bottom beak because it breaks my heart to see her trying to peck at bugs and grass to no avail. I will heed everyone's advice and leave it alone. I'm still holding out hope that the top beak may start to grow back slowly.

Many thanks for everyone's advice. I don't know what I would do without this forum. You all rock!!

I had an injured rooster (raccoon attack) with literally no top beak. We ended up culling him due to systemic infection, but for a while he did seem to be able to catch bugs with a beak that looked like your hen's. I also fed him wetted starter/grower crumbles while I was waiting to see if he was going to make it, and made sure he had yogurt, scrambled eggs and treats like that occasionally.

I didn't think about scrambled eggs, I'll try that tomorrow. I'll try wetting the feed also. I have some yogurt that I bought just for her, but I haven't been able to get her by herself to give it to her. I fed her some grapes that I tore into small pieces and she loved it. She's started fighting the other chickens off any leftovers I throw out to them. I definitely give her an E for effort.
