He's only really quiet when he's sleeping or when he's getting into something

I swear you could hear a pin drop

That is cute! We had our 2 1/2 year old DS and our 4 year old DD dump out two WHOLE cans of baking powder, a box of baking powder and one and a half jars of olive oil on our wood floors, and play in it with their trucks and dozers.

It was over almost our whole dining room, and part of the kitchen.

At least it oiled the floors.

If it makes you feel any better that's a really good level of problem solving for a 3 year old. Have you tried hanging a bell on his door, so it chimes when it's opened?

Home Depot sells battery operated motion detectors for around $15.
You could place one just outside his door, so you'd know when he got up.

We had to put them up when the teenage girl started sneaking out at night. It put a halt to that fast.

Those pics are adorable. I just love how you found all the trucks in the flour.

I LOVED the flour and earth moving equipment. Very cute! Well, as long as it's not between you and the am cup of coffee.

You've got lots of good advice, imho. No sleep during the day, bell on door and such. You'll make it. Take lots of pics so that you can laugh later. Fortunately the little monsters are very cute! :rolleyes

edited to add: I was an Au Pair in Switzerland in the '80's. One morning I got up, the PARENTS had come home late dropped a quiche dish on the floor that was full and left it there and the youngest of two children was COVERED head to toe in European butt paste. ***SIGH*** Shakes head*** at least this one is yours.

we have a 3 yo autistic son and he can get into/out of anything. We had to buy extra tall gates and block off where we didn't want him. He is not potty trained yet but his brothers still need to access the bathroom. Is there any way to put a tall gate so he can access the bathroom but not anywhere else?

eta- I have a cousin that did the same thing. His doctor told my aunt to put toys he really like to play with beside his bed after he goes to sleep. He would wake up and play with them and when he got tired would go back to bed. I like the potty in the room idea, although that could get messy too. I also agree that this can be dangerous. I know what my kids can get into when I am there, hate to imagine what they would get into if I wasn't, I'd be a wreck!
