Will layers skip a few months if I don't provide lighting in coop?

Some folks are of the thinking that that ultimatly shortens their total laying life-time (if that makes sense) they need the slow time, time off etc.
In my personaly opinion I like for them to take the natural pattern of laying and not laying - I do get eggs through winter, just half as much as in summer - and thats ok by me.

I never provide supplimental light for my hens, it doesn't allow them to rest up as nature intended, and can lead to "laying burnout" and shorten their egg laying lifespan by years.
