Will male Coturnix quail crow louder in the presence of other males?

I want to raise groups of breeding Coturnix quail adjacent to each other. Will the male quail crow louder in front of each other? I am mainly raising the quail because they are quiet so minimal noise would be nice, haha.

In my experience, they will crow louder and more frequently when housed with/near other males. The hens on their own are super quiet.

My experience too for sure!
I have mine seperate now, a group outside and a group inside and neither of my males bother to crow at all. When i kept my quails in the same room it was a constant back and forth crowing war, even at night!

Yeah, stick to one or two boys and a BUNCH of girls and you'll be fine. Most of the time when they're yelling they're complaining about it being a sausage fest.

I was hoping to have two breeder groups (1m/5f each) next to each other. Even with enough females, they're still going to crow? If I block them from seeing other, will they still crow a lot?

I'm 99% sure that I will have to, but still asking for the 1% of me that has fingers crossed.

It just depends on their individual personalities, you will have to wait and see, but having more than one in the same room does increase the odds for loud crowing battles... having enough hens each may help too though.
