Last year I had several ducks killed at night on the pond by a mink (that's what the local trappers said was diong it). I sent my ducks away to another farm and we placed traps but no luck so the mink is still out there. So I am wondering if geese would be too big for a mink or is that just wishful thinking?

I miss my waterfowl.

Mink are extremely tough, and can kill most domestic fowl. I would not be too sure that a mink couldn't kill a goose. If I were a betting man, and it came down to a large male mink and a goose, I'd bet on the mink every time.

I saw a tom cat get in a fight with a large mink and the cat came out fine the mink left it alone and neither animal ended up seriously hurt aside from ripped up lips and ears

A male mink maxes out at 3 pounds and are very overated

People confuse the fisher which is a 15 pound weasel like animal with a mink!

Fishers are much more common and yes they could take a goose.

mink will take what eve they can but if I was to make an educated guess my money would be on a coon. Ducks and geese can see at night and wll see a mink coming and try to drown it, they are defensless against coon though.
in a few days period I lost $200.00 of geese and ducks to a stupid coon.
Have your trapper friend set a coon set and see if that is the problem,.

We also set traps for coons and got nothing. The ducks were attacked in the water, dragged to the bank had the head eaten (not even left on the neck) and the neck eaten down to the body which was untouched. Supposedly classic mink damage. I'll keep traps up for both though just in case.

I WILL win this fight!

I lost a bunch of chickens in one night to a mink. We moved all the remaining chickens to a new location and set this trap: put 2 live chickens in a rabbit cage with plywood on the bottom to protect their feet. Wire the cage closed so they are securely inside. Hang the cage from the center of the coop so it's about a foot off the floor. Surround the cage with traps. We used leg traps. The mink will come back if there's still chickens alive. They know there's food there. We caught the mink the next night!

Wishful thinking sorry!
