Currently, I'm in the state of building a duck run and I was wondering when I let them free range will they fly away? I have one Welsh Harlequin male who can't fly and two Muscovy females. The property is in the city and it's quite small but enough for them to run. I'm also building a large pond for them in the backyard. What do you guys think? Will they consider it as home and not fly away?

There is the possibility that if something spooks them they will fly away and be unable to find their way home because of the city environment.
Do you think it's possible to bring them out of the coop once in a while during the summer. I just wanna watch them roam around and forge the grass.

All the Muscovy females here are/have been fliers.
They don't fly more than a few kilometers and they do know their way home.
However, there is a problem. While they are keen on flying away. they all wanted to walk back. If a female here is missing when I check, I go to look for them. The drakes usually alert you because they look anxious and tend to look in the direction the hen flew off. I've found them eventually in some pretty strange places. They prefer to land on open ground, so around here that rules out the woodland which is great.
Most try to walk back up the track. Muscovies don't do uneven ground well.
I don't clip their wings, or keep them in pens.

This OP lives in the city it would be a shame for one to fly and land in a neighbors yard with their dogs.
Yes, I did read this.:)
I hope the OP doesn't think I'm suggesting she lets hers free range.
I wanted to reinforce the information that the females will fly and are pretty good at it.
