will Muscovy's and Rouens interbreed?

Thanks for all the advice everyone. I guess I could eat the eggs I just wouldn't be able to tell which were mules. Maybe I'll have to find a way to keep them separate at least until they are setting. This is a great site I love how everyone is so willing to share their information and experiences. Thanks again.

So besides Muscovy crosses, do all other breeds of duck that interbreed have fertile young? Like lets say a mallard and a Rouen interbred would their young be fertile?

I once had a pair of muscovies and a black cayuga hen. The hen muscovie had ducklings and the cayuga also went setting on her own eggs and hatched almost all of them. They all looked like full Muscovies as adults but a few of the cross hens quaked when I picked them up. I was told that the mules or hybrid generation are infertile for the most part but I ended up having to get rid of them all because they kept visiting my neighbors porch and we have a big pond so I did not want to keep them pened up while they starred at the pond. I did not have the hybrids to check fertility the next season.

Thanks for the info. I have found that a lot of the info I have found online is contradictory. I have even read that Muscovies aren't technically ducks at all but a breed of "perching water fowl". I can't remember where I read that has anyone else heard that before?

I have heard this but rarely ever seen any of mine perched on trees though they did get on the barn a few times. I know for a fact thet they will breed with ducks the same as you can breed chickens to pheasants well maybe a bit easier.

Muscovies are known as Tree ducks. They do not require ponds. Mine stay on the ground most of the time, but have perched on top of buildings a lot, as opposed to the trees.
My muscovy drake has always been too slow to mate with my other breeds of hens much, but the pekins and others always chase down my muscovy hens when they get half a chance.
