Will my little hand held flashlight work for candling?

I am totally new to this.

It is little hand held about 7" long and runs on a couple AAs--it has a regular 'flashlight-sized' incandescent bulb in it.

I have tried it and I can see the air cell; and maybe the orb-like yolk.

Just set eggs last night and was wondering.

Try one of those LED flashlights. That's what I use. They're really bright!

I use the LED's as well. They do work great!!

We used a mini maglite.

What is the shape of an LED light such as you use?

Cylindrical is better, right, rather than rectangular?????

2" long? 7"?

Some one gave me this mini that is the size of a half dollar; i think that's too small. But is it?

It' s made into a key chain...........

Hi fr.John,I made a great cadling light with a 60 watt bulb and a quaker oatmeal container.Get an extension coard with a light socket put the light in the oat meal container and cut a small hole about the size of a quarter in one end and you have a great candling light.Good luck with the hatch.If you need muscovy eggs let me know my ducks are laying. I made one of those candling lights and found it didn't work as well as my hand-held LED (crank recharging) flashlight. JME. Duck eggs are hard to see into after about the first week, so I wouldn't sweat it too much. Good luck with your hatch!

Anything will work as long as you can see through the egg..LOL..
