My little silkie hatched in April last year and has still never layed an egg. I know silkies aren't the best layers, but is it possible that one would never lay? I love her anyway so it doesn't matter, I'm just curious.

well i got my silkies around the same time and they have been laying. on and off. no eggs for quite some time and then almost an egg a day for a while. just be sure it's a hen

Is she the only hen you have ?? Does she free range ?

I have a silky/cochin cross and she hatched in April. No eggs from her either. I'm beginning to think she'll never lay an egg either. LOL

I have a BLRW that was hatched in march...and still nothing! I've pretty much just given up on her at this point.

I'm glad I'm not alone. She's my only silkie but not the only hen. My mom's silkie lays just about every day. Is it possible/ common for a hen to never lay, or is she just a late bloomer?

Silkies can lay, but they need at least 14 hours of light (maybe more)! Artifical light must be provided. She was born in April, so she was not 100% mature during the spring and summer. It also depends on where you live? Up North? Cold? give her some light... she should start producing.
