Will NOT be buying TSC feeds again

I don't think i have a problem with the dumour brand, i have used the blue seal brand and not sure i have noticed the difference. i never thought of my goats, i use dumour 10 sweet for them, they are fat but if i buy other food that is not sweet they don't eat for days.

I thought I read on here that Dumor is MADE by Purina?? Funny how people love Purina, but not Dumor. After using Purina for 4 years, I am finally going back to my local mill. They told me by phone that they still use animal protein, but I have to see it to believe it, because no one else around here does. Since going back to chickens almost 5 years ago after being without for 2 years, I have been feeding the vegetarian feed (all different brands) and have never been statisfied with it. The mill food will be about $1 cheaper than Purina. My problem with Purina is that it always smells like stale beer to me instead of grains.

You made a believer out of me!

After reading this post, I sought out a local feed mill and got some of their feed, and after only 2 days the poo output is WAAAY down, which also means less DE, and fewer pine chips.

Thanks for the tip!

That may just be because you're in the South !

Strictly speaking, the old Southern values are still there. I get my suits, shoes etc. when on business trips there, they really take care of you.

TSC wants $14 a bag
A small local mill sells it for $9 a bag.
They grow there own grains to make feed with.
I bought some fish meal to add to it because chickens are not vegetarians.

I do believe I have read this somewhere....

I did not know this but I would not be surprised if it was a lesser feed they make. I use to buy Pro Plan for my dogs years ago. We all know how many different makes of purina dog food there is out there. Every company it seems has a real low grade and many grades up to the high grade. Never makes sense to me why not just two one cheap and one good. Why conpete with yourself so in having so many brands out by the same company. And we wonder why companies are going under, they need to cut back on all this variation.

Now I know to never buy Dumor feed. I'm going to my local feed store which is a lot closer than TSC anyway. Where do I find out if there is a feed mill close to me?
