Will one rotten egg spoil the rest?

I candled my eggs for the first time at 13 days to see what the progress was. I left an egg in there that I had never seen behave like this one did...Well that one turned rotten 2 days later. I could smell it with the bator closed. So I took it out and smelled the rest of the eggs to make sure no others had turned.

So two questions: Is it possible the rotten egg affected other eggs? And what can I do to prevent this the next time (assuming there is a next time)?

I took it out and checked the others as fast as possible, so not to jeopardize the eggs environment.

As long as the egg didn't break or weep any fluid, all should be good.
