Will the quick in a chickens beak retreat back like it does in dogs nails?

Most of the structure of a chicken's beak is bone, which can't retreat.

Just curious...I trimmed Beakers’ beak, (my cross beak Polish), just to the quick...just wondering if the quick drew back like it does in a dogs toe nail.

It might, but I would be careful with the trimming, just take a little at a time.
