Will Roo Man up!??!?!?

Your boy is still young yet.
I have had several cockerels now and they really don’t seem to try anything with the girls until after 4 months old.
Those older hens will kick him and chase him away at first.
That’s good though because it will help him learn some manners (hopefully).

I have a Black Australorp cockerel.
Oliver is 8 months old and is a pretty good guy.
He’s always been skittish, even as a chick, and is always running from my 1 year old NN rooster.
He never challenges Angus.
But he does breed the girls when he can do it without Angus catching him.
It’s pretty funny to see him looking to see if Angus is coming as he’s finishing his business and trying to get off of her before Angus kicks him off.
We built another coop to house Angus with some of his girls in a fenced off yard from Oliver and his ladies.
We’re going to separate everyone this weekend.

HI
I Have a 3 month old roo and 2 same age hens. So we got him and the 2 girls to add to our already flock of hens. When we put the baby's in the hens yard they are VERY scared including the roo?!!? Will my roo ever be a leader to all my hens not just his little girls???
He's still a baby!
It will take time to integrate the new birds into your flock...
.... and even longer before he's 'leading'.
The existing hens will likely kick his butt for months.

Post his pic separately here for breed ID:

Include a pics of his legs and bottom of feet.

FYI.....semantics, maybe, but can be important communication terms when discussing chicken behavior.
Female chickens are called pullets until one year of age, then they are called hens.
Male chickens are called cockerels until one year of age, then they are called cocks(or cockbirds or roosters).
Age in weeks or months is always a good thing to note.

He's only 3 months old, barely an adolescent. Essentially you've put a 10-12 year old boy in a room with some middle-aged women. if a young boy tried to boss those mature women around they'd tell him in no uncertain terms where to stick his advice. Since chicken hens will be far less nice to your cockerel than their human counterparts would be to a boy, he has reason to fear them. For now.

As he matures he should start to challenge them. It will take several months though.
