Your boy is still young yet.
I have had several cockerels now and they really don’t seem to try anything with the girls until after 4 months old.
Those older hens will kick him and chase him away at first.
That’s good though because it will help him learn some manners (hopefully).
I have a Black Australorp cockerel.
Oliver is 8 months old and is a pretty good guy.
He’s always been skittish, even as a chick, and is always running from my 1 year old NN rooster.
He never challenges Angus.
But he does breed the girls when he can do it without Angus catching him.
It’s pretty funny to see him looking to see if Angus is coming as he’s finishing his business and trying to get off of her before Angus kicks him off.
We built another coop to house Angus with some of his girls in a fenced off yard from Oliver and his ladies.
We’re going to separate everyone this weekend.
