Will Roosters still fight w/out a hen?

I was thinking one day if there happened to be only roosters in a coop, with no hens within hearing or seeing distances, would they still fight over who is better or a hen that might come someday? Is the fighting instinct triggered by hens or is that natural?!

the roos will still fight for dominency

i had 4 roos together and they never really faught

but when i cleaned out the coop i removedthe dominet male as he used to peck at me

and upon returning him to teh coop

the other males used to challenge him

obviously they used to loose every time but that ranking system is always there
