Will someone please explain to me why

At 4.5lbs this dog takes up more bed the the two people do. He even has his own pillow. I have gotten into to bed and found him tucked under the covers with his head on the pillow. I am also to darn scared of him to make him move. When Teddie is sleeping we are all scared of him. He had a very furious growl if we wake him up some.

All 3 cats feel that the only place to sleep at night is on the bed with me.

While I'm sleeping, one crawls up either ON up against me. The problem with that is that he is a LARGE cat. A truly BIG cat. He is very heavy. When that is draped across your neck it is not comfortable. Or, back...side...arm...or head... Plus, he's a very insistent cat. If you move him aside, he comes right back. It is his RIGHT as far as he is concerned to choose his sleeping space.

He's a sweet cat but my HEAD and NECK are not good places for him to sleep...

We have 4 dogs that sleep on our bed (all around 20 lbs) or block the heater in our room

And now that the pups have gotten heavier I have had to wedge my rocker recliner on top of my computer desk because this is their normal place of rest if I am on the computer and more than once their combined weight has made the chair fall. double

ETA: there are two more dogs on the floor underfoot or nearby and there are two cats but only one is willing to come near the dog pack. She also likes to get on the back of the recliner and head butt me...

Oh I KNOW just what you mean.

It's particularly funny and/or annoying when I'm doing a task that takes me back and forth... like moving gifts from this room to that room... because all three dogs will follow me... there and back and there and back and there and back... over and over... with a human kiddo thrown into the parade now and then for spice.

We kicked them out of our bed, but at one point I'd be sleeping on my side and have Lily curled by my belly, Janie behind my knees... and good luck turning over n'mind going to the bathroom since they're on top of the covers and pinning you in... and then to finish the ensemble you've got Mattie acting as a head warmer... can you say sucker?

Yup. Mine know I am a sucker. They pretty much stay out of my way in the summer when it is hot, but in the winter they snuggle in close. I have been known to sit up and yell in the middle of the night just to get everyone off me.

The dog has learned to stay at my feet (where I am pretty happy to have her on cold nights), but Max the cat prefers to sleep ON me. I sleep on my side so he makes a nest beween me and the pillow. He's the 10 pound cat. I have banned the 15+ pound cat and the crazy one to sleep elsewhere in the house. The baby kitty gets to choose who she will sleep with. She is only 5 pounds, so she is less of a truma on the bed. The big strappin' boys could break a rib the way they pounce around.

Pineapplemama- Mine stay at my feet constantly. Even a trip to the bathroom gets company. The cats seem to think that the throne room is for them. I can't sit without having someone in my lap or on my shoulders. Sigh.

Yup, I've tried telling them that I've been trained for years but they still seem to think I'll need a paw...

Bonus points come at night when thanks to darkness I'm even more likely to trip over one of our two black (and a bit of tan) doxies.

Then you get a dose of guilt to go to sleep with. This can be lowered a bit with a bribe, but then you have to try and sleep while sniffing turkey... unless of course you SCRUB your hands, then you smell the orange antibac soap... one makes you hungry (more guilt for late night eating) the other makes your nose clog up... catch-22...

3/5 of our cats disappear when the family comes for a visit--they hole up in the cellar and just come out to eat--so as soon as the visitors leave we have to provide extra lap time. Kids went home (DD's dog too) today and we've had a severe cases of COL (cat on lap) all afternoon.

I can't go in the bathroom alone, unless I close the door really fast behind me. Then I have to listen to really loud howling.

As I walk from room to room, I'm always leading a parade.
