will the cold kill mites?

I noticed today that my tiny white silkie has little red mites on her head.its too cold to give her a bath.. I dusted everyone and the coop but was wondering if the cold would kill the mites??

Sorry, but no. Those that are on the chickens have built in heaters - those hiding in the cracks and crevices of the coop just go dormant until things warm up. Sorry, but that's how the little buggers operate.
