I have always wondered about premier one fencing, can chickens just fly over it?

Just finished setting up my premier one electric fence. For gates, I use an old plastic fence I had. I have 2 entries one large one for a rideable mower and another smaller one. I have yet to set up my energizer (a KUBE 3000 High Impedance energizer) hopefully on Monday. I'm going to set it up on a U post on IMG #. A reason I set up my energizer there was because that's near the drip irrigation from the tree so the soil is damp and good for my grounding rod. I plan to have Turkeys in the fenced area and have them sleep on a movable pallet perch.
What do you think of the setup?

If that is the place they will sleep then no. It has zero protection from above. I have seen fox clear a 6' fence like it was nothing.
Then there are big owls.

They should have a solid secure place to sleep. Daytime that will not stop raptors.

How do you protect from hawks when you have a big flock?

Another way is hoop runs. Those are usually 8' wide and with a covered end serve as both run and coop.

Many people use tall poles and bird netting. Not the super light stuff from home depot but sturdier stuff.

I stand corrected.
I'm not sure how you would connect it to the premier one fencing but you could get this wire and run a couple hot wires near the bottom with handles so you could pull them back when you want to get into the pasture.

That's a great idea. The only con is that I don't want the wire touching the plastic fenced and burning. But I may be wrong

Yes they can. I also lost 2 turkeys this summer due to entanglement/stranglation.
I don't have problems with predators. Not sure if it's just luck or what. Only lost several chicks in the spring because a coon was able to get in the run. Once I got it sealed I haven't had any problems since even though we have flying predators, fox, coons, ect.

The easy gate for my Premier 1 net is to turn off the charger, untie the cords, move one end a few feet so I can walk through or pull my garden cart through, then put it back when I'm done.

I did not know about that. I will look into it
