I don't know if this is the appropiate thread. but will being on cement cause bumblefoot? I read somewhere on here that being on cement constantly will cause it. is it true? because my hens have a cement run...I am a little concerned because one of my pullets IS limping... i checked, tough, and couldn't find anything. ???

i had hens on cement before now and no issues for me

what i understand is bumblefood occurs from jumping off and landing on hard surfaces like cement from teh hard impact

or roosting on thin wooden perches with sharp edges like plywood edge

If it is of a rough texture (not smooth), yes, it can cause abrasions that can lead to bumblefoot. Anything that scratches the feet and allows the staph germs in can cause bumblefoot.
