Just discovered that what I thought was molting is really mites or lice. I've been reading some of the old posts about this and how to treat it. I decided to go with one of the liquid sprays. Hubs picked up Bonide permethrin 2.5% concentrate. It lists a long line of bugs its good for but doesn't say anything about using on chickens. Did we get the right thing?

Some people prefer to not use anything on their chicken unless it is approved for poultry...that being said I use a horse product that contains permethrin.

Make sure you treat every little crack of your coop too.
That is where the mites are living, they come out at night to eat on the chickens.

Just to make sure I understood what I read earlier.....I spray the chickens, clean the coop/nesting boxes, spray everything in coop/run esp. crevices and then put down new bedding.....then repeat in 7-10 days.

I would do exactly what you just said.
I would concentrate more on the coop then the run.
And I would only use a little on the actual bird, but douse the coop.
A spray under each wing and on the butt area.
