Hi all ,
So Willow layer a beautiful first egg 3 days ago and yesterday she was vocalizing again thought she'd lay again and she did but it was a soft egg. I'm new to this I am feeding them layer pellets, I give them a little cracked corn scratch as treat, mealworms every other day, and salad daily. I saw that everyone refers to Oster shell is this something I need to add ?
Buffy update no eggs and still runs and hides from Xander when he comes toward her, though at times I find her standing right next to him.

Yes they should have oyster shell or some additional source of calcium available, for egg shell strength, as the calcium in layer feed may not be enough for all birds (and gets diluted down with treats). This helps the hens/pullets regulate their calcium intake.

However I agree it's not unusual to see soft shells or other quirky eggs from young layers.

When pullets first start laying eggs they will often be double yolkers, shell-less, etc. It will even out to normal with time.

Agreed. As long as they have calcium available, they will be fine over time.
