Wilton Maine Farm Swaps at Tractor Supply 2012

Remember last year? It poured all day and we had to set up under the Goat shed! It was cold too! Pray for SUNSHINE and warmer weather!

but they didn't charge for tailgate sales even though it probably was not a very profitable day. the spring show was a beautiful day, I hope the weather is like that (for both shows)

how was the turnout for this swap? pretty hot day. I went to the northeast livestock expo, that was quite a disappointment. not many animals. they said attendence was way down and they had split the belted galloway show from the expo and moved that to fryburg.

When is the next swap for Wilton? Seems like the person who wanted to take this over has either droped out of the picture or just don't care to advertise it.

when i talked with the event coordinator at the store to find out if this past swap was going on,(and heard about the one the week prior) he did not know anyone was working with the store to set these up and really wanted some help to do it and spread the word. if you know a swap is going on, and you want to help make it successful, advertise, spread the word whether or not you are the coordinator. I as a seller, do this to events I am attending, it helps the other vendors but it in turn helps my sales too. if no one knows it's going on, they are not going to just show up hoping it is and eventually, no one will come to buy (or sell) if there is no turn out.
I found once monthly swaps for my area work so much better then if they are running every weekend. people figure they can just go next week as it will still be there rather then they have to wait a whole month and they will make more of an effort to get there.

Well The store did have a coordinator, Or so this person told me so, so thats why I backed out of it! I'll have to go to the store manager and talk with him, to see what is going on. I'll explain more when I see you at the show.

They don't even know whats going on at the store! I guess you just take your chances of showing up on the 1st and 3rd Sunday of the month. It was mentioned also with the store being set so high above the main road, its difficult for anyone driving by to see the store.

i have a sign that I carry to the swaps and post at the road. several swappers got together, pitched in $2 each and I used that to buy the materials to make the sign. we use it at all the augusta swaps. i have a different one for the waterville swaps that says farm days @ tractor supply (since that store sits back from the road in a mall - brings in traffic)

I am planning on being at the swap Sunday. I will be bringing New Hampshire Reds chicks that are 4 weeks old, some heritage Delawares sold as a breeding group of 3 hens and a rooster these are 14 weeks old, plus some mix chicks that I have hatched from some of the swaps I do. Will probably have turkey poults the black spanish and maybe a few black copper/americauna cross chicks. By the time the swap happens I might have more, not sure right now.
