Windows, roosts, venting, & insulation for coop?

You're right, Nugget. I've seen the cheap plastic stuff labeled hardware cloth, also. But as Pat says, that's not the hardware cloth people here are speaking of. The best hardware cloth is wire, 1/2" openings and welded 19 gauge.
Which, by the way, is expensive.

We made sawhorse perches out of 2x4's. Haven't had any problems and they love them. We have 2 coops - the floor on one is plastic-coated plywood. The other is regular plywood. We use hay for bedding and cleanup is do-able. I'm sure the vinyl flooring is a better solution because of dampness but it works out ok. Our coops are actually built in the garage/old barn and we did put insulation in, then covered the walls with plywood, then painted. So far so good. Fortunately chickens aren't picky!
