Winedocks, Asterlops & Coo Coo Maroons

There is an ad here for "bread Cows". Now, I've seen milk cows before, but never a bread cow.

Maybe you should ask what variety they are - white, wheat, pumpernickel?

I think they are a dark wheat or a rye. The ad said "Black angus bread cows"........

While I am not the OP, I have made a couple of posts myself so let me just say that I personally did not mean to offend anyone - I don't think anyone who has posted has meant anything offensively either. I think we are all laughing in a "cute" way due to spelling and pronunciation - I don't think we are making fun per se. I for one have a very thick southern accent so my pronunciation isn't the greatest, my spelling leaves a lot to be desired and I am no poultry expert having only had my birds a year so again, apologies if I have offended.

I agree....I am not laughing AT the people posting the ads, I'm laughing at the creative comments our forum members are making. I doubt many of the ad posters have ever seen the names of the chickens written down, they are just going by how they've heard them pronounced. Hope no one is taking offense. I will say though that if I was going to post an ad, I would at least check the spelling....but then, I've seen professional signs that are full of spelling and grammatical errors. I'm sure I'm guilty at times. But you have to admit, these are just too funny!

First, Let me say, this is meant in HUMOR, not to OFFEND!

I've had my share of "Oops!" moments in writing over the years!

Well, here is what I found on a quick scan:

I have a 5 month old molted cochin rooster for sale
-----------
Here is a STEAL for 20 chickens:
Americauna mixes and brown egg layers. Two to 3 years of ages. Not laying many eggs really?

----------
Hatching eggs for sale . We have buff orphington, americana, rhode island reds, buff colored polish crested, domniques, black orphingtons.,. and cinamon(sexling) reds..( is a cross between rhode island red and hubbard white).call if you have questions. 6.00 a dozen. We CANNOT seperate the eggs to give you certain breeds... These are straight run eggs!!! THAT has been my mistake all along! I have been ordering straight run eggs rather than SEXED EGGS!Please also make sure you have an incubator and now what your doing.. There's my OTHER mistake!! You need an incubator to hatch the eggs! Who knew? I just kept checking the cardboard box the eggs came in every once in a while, hoping to see chicks...

The eggs are mostly buff orphingtons than cinamon reds.

This is a snippet of a much longer ad:

4. Hardy in winter? Ya sure you betchya. (We live up dare in Minnesota donchya know)

5. Bears Confinement? YES. (Better than I do for 5 months of the year) I want to see how he survives 5 months in a cage with a bear, much less how the chicken manages it! Now THAT is a good show idea for TLC!

6. Rare Breed? YES. (Some people say that about me).
The Jersey Giant was recognized by the American Poultry Association (APA) in 1922. Today Jersey Giants are accepted in the APA Standard of Perfection in three color varieties – black, white, or blue. Our grandson will be entering our rooster in the state fair next year. From what I saw last year, he’s a shoe in for a blue ribbon. We got our chicks last year from Murray-McMurray, a very reputable hatchery.

No harm meant. Matter of fact I'm about as country redneck as it gets. I talk like a hick as I'm a country girl born and raised in missouri. I refer to my dominiques as domineckers to people around here as well cause that's all they know them by. I also refer to bantams as banties as that's all I've ever heard them called. I would try to get it as right as possible for an ad though. It's just a little funny to see all of the names people come up with for the same chickens. I'm sure no one on here means any harm. I am usually the first person to laugh at my own self and find humor in everything. A little humor makes the world a better place. Please do not be offended by our lighthearted nature.
