I have a 4 month old pekin who this morning had blood on his (or her, not entirely sure yet) feather. I caught her and she let me look a little. I see several feathers are broken and there's a lump with a black spot in the center that's kind of oval-shaped. I can't look very well (or take pictures) because I'm by myself and she's not what I would call an affectionate duck. I only have two hands. I sprayed it with vetricyn and when my husband gets home from work I'll be able to inspect/treat better, but is this like a feather cyst or something? What do I need to do? I'm guessing she broke the feathers on the fence in their run. I'm sorry no pictures, but I need both hands to hold her. She is eating, drinking, swimming all normally. Thank you for any help.

Once you get the picture here we can help better. For now just keep an eye on her if she is acting normal in all ways. No bleeding now?
No, she's not bleeding and is eating, drinking, playing in the pool, all 100% normal. I've cleaned their pool twice today already because they get it so nasty and I don't want her to get an infection, but it's so hot today keeping her out of it would be cruel.

No need to be so diligent. She will be fine swimming. Ducks heal fast.
If the lump with the black spot is an ingrown feather or something, will we need to get it out? Or just watch it? I will get pics as soon as he gets home (or maybe earlier if my son gets home sooner).
