We had a "cold front" come through yesterday afternoon so the high Today is only 87. A VERY rare occurrence for August.

Yes ma'am it is rare, this whole summer has been pretty mild with may more rain than usual. The majority of our property is scorched earth around this time of year, lol. She looks quite content!

Like clockwork, she left the nest at noon for a break. I'm off work today so I ran out there to check the nest. Sure enough, she had 6 eggs. A random Barred Rock egg made it under her. How did that even happen? I haven't seen anyone enter that nest except mama. Did she steal it?!

I didn't mark the hatching eggs but that's because they look drastically different than my normal eggs so it's pretty obvious. I tossed the BR egg in the compost pile because I have no clue how long she had it under her in the heat.
