They will all want the crumble, idk why, but they will, lol. You could buy a bigger bag and mix them, unless you are absolutely going to separate her and the chicks. Either way, mom will make sure they eat
I'll take a pic of the pellets and get your opinion on if they're small enough for the babies. They are smaller than other pellet feed I've seen.

Best case scenario is I don't have to separate her. I'd like her to raise her chicks with the flock in the main coop/run.

Small enough for babies?

It wouldn’t scare me to feed that to broody raised chicks. Momma will crush it if they need it. I would add chick grit to get their gizzards full. Momma will feed them all kinds of bugs and whatever plants she can get to.

Great! That will make things a lot easier. I knew if I out chick crumble out, the other hens would go straight for it because they like anything new.

I plan on letting her take them out to free range if she wants. I'm hoping to be hands off and let her do her thing. Of course, I'll probably supervise mainly to enjoy the experience.

Amongst my 70 odd chickens, the co-broodys with the babies are absolutely the QUEENS. They eat wherever, whatever they want first. Every single chicken gets out of their way.

It's a sight to behold, I love watching it haha

You're going to have the BEST TIME watching all of this I am so excited for you!!! :love :love :love

without being there it’s impossible to say for sure but a lot of times momma hens will clean the slime off the chicks. They do it with their beaks so it could look like pecking. If the chick is chirping not screaming like it’s in distress I wouldn’t get too worried yet. Good luck with your hatch
