So.... been quite busy clearing the new property. Found yet another chicken coop and large fully fenced area. Might let loose a couple goats in this area (under supevision) to clear it some more.

Speaking of goats... I might be getting a couple 6 month old Nigerian Dwarf goats (wethers). The lady that breeds them in my area has been giving me advice and she just had a buyer fall through and offered them to me. They're small and I don't have a LGD so I plan on putting them inside one of the buildings at night for protection. I'm so excited!!

I will be living vicariously through you, until the hubs gives in of course :love 🤣

Still waiting on my goats but in the meantime... what in the world is up with this family unit?! Over 9 weeks old and they're still sticking to mom.

I did catch them roosting together at dusk but when I checked the camera just now, they were all crammed in a nest box (more like overflowing). I wonder if they're getting bullied off the roost bars...

They'll figure it out😉

They'll figure it out😉
I noticed something interesting today. It looked like the cockerel and one of the girls were sticking close to mom but the other girl kind of wondered off on her own. I've been noticing that she seems more independent.

When I looked at the coop cam. I noticed there was a ton of space. I couldn't tell if it was because they were all cuddled up or if some decided to finally use my other roost bars so decided to go out in the dark to check it out.

They were all inside the coop on original roosts but a single chick was up there with them! The 2 other chicks were under mom in the nest box.

They'll start breaking away, they're already integrated, so now they just need to figure out where they're "allowed" to roost. I believe mine will be 8 weeks Friday, they do their own thing most of the day, but still chill with mom. She is still trying to cover them with her wings on the roost which is hilarious. I guess we both have a trio of big ol tittie babies with moms that won't let go😂 The next step will be when they become their own little band of misfits!
