wing pulled off but still attached by muscle, any suggestions

Update on the chicken, I finally found a bird doctor, so the wing was a compound fracture. So what to do? $ 22 to put the bird down plus $50 vet visit or $265 to have the surgery or take it home and try to do it myself. well Silly me, I spent the 265 because the chicken was a very sweet pet from someone that gave her to me, not like my other wild 13 Rhode Island reds. The doctor ground the bone down and dressed it. So thank you for all the advised, it guided me to my decision. The doctor was fabulous and was even telling me if I wanted to do my own amputation at home how to do it. I was glad to hear that he was grinding the bone for a happy life!

That was your choice then actually the cost is quite reasonable

Congrats!
What are the after care instructions from the vet?
Any antibiotics?

That price was a steal!

You were really fortunate to find a vet willing to treat.
I have a sneaking suspicion that they couldn’t possibly pass up the opportunity to see and treat such an injury, and on a chicken no less!
:highfive::yesss::woot:clap

As @Texas Kiki stated above, please fill us in on the aftercare recommended for this guy, including meds.
I am as curious as she is!

That right there is worth the price. Best of Luck!

I changed the dressing and they gave me a paste to apply to it. that was all the after care instructions and of course if I needed anything to call him back. Isolated the chicken from the other chickens of course. the bone or wing bone is healing fine. Eating and drinking all normal activity.
The biggest factor, I believe in this incident, was that the flys were not a relevant part of the equation. He stated that the flys would have infected the wound.
