"My mother used to have a position of importance... once upon a time. She taught me how to lead. But that was in the past..." She frowned, thinking of Sydenham.

Red disappeared into a nearby bush without a trace.
Fort took the pouch, now empty of berries, and followed Tan up the hill.

Over the hill was a stream, where clear water was flowing, unpolluted by the tsunami. Tan took a drink and filed on hide up with it then crossed it easily as it was rather small.

Fort started to wash herself. She'd gotten quite muddy from floating for so long in the sea.
There was still no sign of Red, but suddenly small bubbles started to filter from one bank of the stream.
